RE: Current production 7591As thoughts....

I'm in the process of "re-creating" a vintage amp by moving all the iron onto a new chassis. Much has changed in the 50-odd years since this amp was originally designed, so I'm also adapting the circuitry as necessary to accommodate readily available tube types. One of the changes I'm making is to replace the original 7591 outputs with 6L6 types. It's challenging (but not impossible), because the 6L6 requires a significantly higher peak drive level. If I had an older amplifier like yours, I'd do almost anything rather than spend $140 or more for a set of reissue output tubes. I realize some people really value a faithful restoration though, so take that for whatever it's worth. :)
