Hello,

VR tubes work perfektly on the screen of a pentode. No addational noise if you use a parallel capacitor. The datasheet tells you the max. capacitance.

If you can use ZZ1040 there is no capacitance limit if you use the additional ignition elecrode.

I usually connect it ro the cathode.
