I'm considering a DC-coupled cathodyne in my next amplifier build. The power supply will be SS, so I'm concerned about protecting the cathodyne tube. One of the candidates I'm looking at for this service is the 12B4, and its high transconductance makes me suspect it has a relatively small G-K spacing. Will a NE-2 neon bulb between grid and cathode be sufficient to protect this particular tube?
