Working in semiconductor processing, I saw many interesting malfunctions.
We had a planar Magnetron sputtering system which didn't work properly. We had a couple factory guys out over a period of time to fix it. High voltage? HIgh Vacuum? Relays? Interlocks?
One guy? Came out of the fab and said
'It Emitted a Large Blue Spark and Ceased to Function'.
We never saw HIM again. System was eventually fixed but remained quirky and NONE of our in-house guyss ever gained competence with fixing it.
Other machines were just as bad in their own way.
