I hadn't ever considered 2-3uf to be a "huge" capacitor.
The electrolytic cap that sits from the plate of that cathode follower to ground will also be in the signal path, and my guess is that you were planning to use at least 100uF.
Still, it's certainly worth it as an experiment.
