I've done it on jukebox amps...in fact its common on jukebox amps...both preamp and power tubes.
But most of these arw "bullet-proof" designs to put up with who knows what kind of abuse. They'll run happily with only one output tube in a PP pair and never complain. Quite a few out there running with a single 6973.
