So I connected the internal shield to the cathode...

My 6sn7 driver stage is now a 6gk5 driver stage.

150 volts plate, 11ma, CCS loaded, Teflon cap coupled into a 270k ohm grid resistor on the 300b.

The load line for the 6gk5 should be that of a 270k ohm load.

With a plate resistance of 5500 ohms playing into 270k ohms the 6gk5 should be looking at a pretty horizontal load line.

First impression....sounds fine, more gain.
