Electromagnetic Shields

Had some theory questions on Shielding. Been building some permanent enclosures for my tube stuff and was trying to get a better understanding of what is going on.

For let's say a power transformer. If you put it in a steel enclosure of let's say a 6 inch cube or a 12 inch cube. Because of the larger total area of the 12 inch cube will it drain off more energy?

Also if you ground the case to earth ground does it allow some of the energy to dissipate on the ground line?

Any information on this topic would be appreciated.

Thanks Tom
