RE: Tone Controls

JMO, if you don't use that Max Robinson setup or its hybrid (lower bottle count) "equivalent", it's BETTER to completely forget about tone controls.

Fact, very few recordings benefit from the presence of tone controls. When they are not needed, total removal from the signal path is appropriate. Being "unity" gain, Max's setup makes switching out of/in to the signal path pretty straight forward. The preferred listening level setting need not be adjusted. :>)
