Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

RE: Looking for a relatively simple tube preamp circuit that sounds great.

Hi,

The line preamp's I like best of any I tried are Kondo (Audio Note Japan) M-7 Line and the line stage of the Arthur Loesch Preamp (which seems mostly identical with commercial First Sound Presence Preamp).

For DIY and without a lot of experience the Kondo version is simpler and easier to realise:

I have build multiple units all using Noble Pot's and 2.2uF Tinfoil coupling cap's and Kiwame resistors. They all went down a treat, even if they missed a touch of the magic the real Kondo build units have.

At 20 bits, you are on the verge of dynamic range covering fly-farts-at-20-feet to intolerable pain. Really, what more could we need?
