Only issue I have with ceramics is that the unglazed porcelain is quite porous. In areas with very high humidity, contaminates can get absorbed by the porcelain. Usually the glazed portions are on the top so this is not much of an issue, but if you use a lot of cleaning solutions and sprays, beware.
