Have you considered diodes or PTC?

If the voltage drop you need is minimal then a diode could be a better solution because it keeps the (dare I say it) DCR low. Normal diodes for lowest drop or SiC Schottkies for 1 - 2 volts each depending on current.

Another and possibly even better way depending on the drop you need is to use a PTC inrush current limiter, many different ratings to suit your needs. This is what I use for obvious reasons.
