I am talking about the single plate 2A3.
When looking down from above you have a structure that consisdts of a grid and an anode that is symmetrical about the cathode. I think this can fairly be viewed as two tubes in parallel and it is my contention that if two discrete tubes in parallel show some sort of smearing effect, the same must happen inside a single tube.
