I think that in this case there's a bit more to it than one person's hearing abilities.
Twin triodes often have sections that are not that closely matched. When paralleled, they can have different parameters for each section which could give a different sonic presentation to a section matched tube. You can measure the mismatch and you can measure the parameters when paralleled. I hear a difference that I don't enjoy when using a paralleled 6SN7 as an example. You may like the effect.
I'm not agreeing with anyone, I'm just saying.
