The two triode sections, when paralleled, are not quite precisely alike in all characteristics, so on EFFICIENT speakers, it is heard as a musical presentation being slightly askew, slightly less pure, less precise, less pristine.
On lower efficiency speakers, its a moot point, and often helpful to parallel sections, to get extra drive to the load, and trade off some of the purity. Not so, however, when you have efficient speakers. A good listener can hear it.
This amp's intended load is efficient speakers. Hence the design choice.
