If you are nervous about Screen damage, put a nice quiet Diode between the Plate and the Screen stopper R. Some kind DIY person sent me the idea offline. Since they didn't say it was Top Secret, I blab everywhere.

I use 3000V 6Amp units ... but it was the only size they had four of at the big box electronics store ;)

And, voltage limits are guidelines. Nobody designs in failure mode of a tube.

PS my OPTs have Screen taps, and, it was Fixed bias when I bought it. Both are out of my Aural life, at the moment ...
