As you point out, great bang for the buck, yet 3dB less hum to deal with (when compared to 300Bs). Although I don't have a hang up with PROPERLY implemented DC filaments, this makes AC filaments practical with slightly higher efficiency speakers. That makes building an amp simpler (possibly avoiding DC filament supplies), which is always a plus. I think there is possibly a sonic benefit, but would have to investigate further to see if that speculation is of merit.
