Hi Jim L,
That is my point. Glad you posted. Imagine dissipating 14 watts from a globe 45. Where do I collect the $100.??
The manufacturer should pay me as a consultant.
You know, its a pretty good amp - other than the hot rodding extreme.
The same fixes I gave for the 300B DRD would apply equally well to the 45 DRD er, amplifier.
Only I bet you another $100 that the L in the stock amp's C/L/C is really high in DCR, a music killer - for sure. It isn't 20 ohms or less, would be my $1,000 bet.
The same fixes I gave to the 300B DRD poster who asked me for a schematic, apply to the little 45 DRD amp. A couple of changes:
1) Eliminate the high DCR L stock, and use L1/C1/L2/C2 with those sub eleven dollar ten ohm !!! Traids.
2) Change the bias to between .25 to .30 VDC, (25 to 30 milliamperes) final value user-selected, strictly by ear.
Well, now I am really in trouble, will the manufacturer sue me or thank me?? Quick, get the Gestapo. Oh, its so much fun to be back posting again.
