Hi.What an excellent example of stright-to-the-point reply I am expecting.
Of course, proper physical layout of the phonostage will help reducing the run of the signal pair. Grounded metal chassis also helps to reduce electrostatic coupling noise to the unshielded pair.
As long as it works without noticeable hum in sticky situation like this - WITHOUT the sonically impairing shield, I consider it mission accomplished.
