Is there a formula for calculating the f-1dB pole?

Hello all,
I hope my question doesn't sound too stupid. All this decibel talk is new to me. Thanks to MJ's book, I'm familiar with the formula to calculate the -3dB pole of first order RC/LC filters. But is there a formula for calculating the -1dB point, or better yet, a general equation for arbitrary attenuation points.
