I have not tried the EML, but with the AVVT I can say it was a very modern sounding tube as compared to the RS series.

I made several amplifiers with both. I prefer the RS over the AVVT version but getting the tubes is a bit rough.

Power wise I was able to get about the same power using my reactor follower direct drive circuit. I think there are pics of the RS series amp up on my news page.
