Yes you can. The wire will not catch fire. However, the current is a bit high for my taste. There will be a measurable voltage drop if the wire is more than a few inches long. I recommend using larger wire, at least 18 gauge. If you only have the 22 gauge wire use multiple runs(parallel). Two pieces of 22 gauge wire equals one 19 gauge wire (each time you parallel two equal gauges of wire the gauge increase three).If you do use the singe 22 gauge wire check the voltage drop and be prepared to compensate for the voltage drop if it is significant enough to affect circuit performance.
