Ripple here means "ripple current".
Ripple current is associated with the charge and discharge currents a capacitor sees and, in conjuction with the capacitors ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance), determines the capacitor life.
This is because the heat (watts) generated in the capacitor is the usual I squared R, where R is the ESR and I is the Ripple current.
