I posted this same question on the Tweaker's Asylum, but thought it might be answered here as well. I recently bypassed the two 4.0uf output caps in my preamp with some good .1uf teflons and the sound was always tilted upwards, or shelved, if you will. It just didn't sound right. I believe that this was some type of phase anamoly. I finally took out the .1uf caps and replaced them with the same brand .01uf teflons and the sound was amazingly transformed. The frequency and tonal balance was very even and sounded just right. Can someone explain this phenomena, if it is indeed a phase anomaly and why is this? Thanks for your input.
