High ripple electrolytics have thicker insulation between the foil in order to deal with the heat that builds up when used in capacitor-input filters. They last a long time compared with their smaller (and cheaper) counterparts, although they are larger and more expensive.
I built a 6V6GT based push-pull amp in 1983 using high ripple caps in the power supply, and it's turned on everyday, and it works just fine. Go ahead and spend some money!

Mike
