using unmatched tubes

he recommends this when using unmatched tubes.
my questions are:
1. does one need to have a separate bias suppy for each tube?
2. in the original article (http://www.audiodesignguide.com/my/el34_pse/el34pse.html), he mentioned separate bias trimmer for each tube. how is this done?
