Vince,If you hybrid bridge rectify and choke I/P filter the little trafo, you will get just about the same amount of B+ current as you do now with FWCT into a cap. I/P filter. Choke I/P filters allow you to access the full VA capability of a rectifier winding. :~)
Use 2X 6AU4 damper diodes in the vacuum half of the bridge. The SLOW rise of B+ allows you to forego a critical current bleeder resistor. Also, the forward drop in dampers is LOW by tube standards. Follow old ARRL handbook recommendations and use LCLC as the filter arrangement. Paired 2nd LC sections (1/channel) will improve separation.
BTW, make sure your jock strap is well fitted. ;~) All that "iron" is going to be HEAVY.
