Hammond filament transformers - primary voltages

Hi all - would appreciate help with a noob-ish question.

I want to start playing with DHT's, so looking at separate filament trannies - pref with 2.5 and 5v capability to keep options open in the future.

PCX have a limited range of 266 series trannies available (designed for 115 - 230 V primary) - nothing in the CT 5V range.

In my simple way, I had assumed that if I took a 166 series (117v) 2.5VCT and ran it at 230V (50Hz), I would have 5V(+/-)CT with half the current capacity. The Hammond website talks about the 166 series being specifically designed for 117V/60hz, which now has me wondering.

Will my method work? How close is the approximation I am working to, and what are the variables I am neglecting? What would happen to the transformer's regulation?

Thanks
Brian
