Sorry I took Hook-up wires to be speaker hook-up wires. In my amp I have only replaced the speaker connectors and all the tubes from original, so far.In my preamp (pas3x) it uses solid core (larger diameter than cat5) I have replaced some of the solid core with multi-core silver clad copper and prefer the detail over the old solid core. Cat5 copper is probably better than the old solid core but as a precaution I would double check the load it will take...
