The capacitance we're dealing with that can handle 120Vrms are usually pretty small, so I don't see the problem. You won't be putting in polarized electrolytics across it, I hope.

My comment about the power company liking to see more capacitance usually refers to the industrial motor users. Sometimes they engineer a power factor adjustment that is required by the power company for excessive lagging motor loads. Source: my electric machinery class in college, about 1981. So I can be out of date on this stuff.
