Forget the switch. Why not just use a slower start-up 5V rectifier like a GZ34 or Bendix 6106 (although I don't necessarily want to drive up the cost of 6106's by recommending them to others)? I find that these ramp up slow enough to protect most output tubes. If there is a differential in the voltage drop, just adjust a resistor or choke as needed to hit the B+ you need.
