Original schematic from Sound Practices called for Solen Poly caps, but you could use whatever kind of cap you like, I suppose. Joe Roberts built one (a Micro 3.5) using Western Electric paper in oil caps and Magnequest DS 025 OTs. I'm about to try this circuit again with vintage paper in oils and Tango XE-20S.And the cathode resistor on the 2A3 is so high because of the amp being direct-coupled. Cathode voltage on the 2A3 is raised to the level of the plate voltage on the 6SL7, therefore, larger resistor. BTW, I've built this amp before and it sounds pretty good.
