Removal of the bypass cap can also increase input impedance (generally a good thing), increase OP impedance (generally bad) and lower PSRR (always bad but to varying degrees). So depending on the circuit, removal of the cap can sometimes be detrimental. I generally favour other forms of bias ... it depends.cheers,
