You may use both halves of one tube per channel OR one tube for 1st stage both channels & 2nd tube for next stage both channels; should not make any diff. My Heathkit AA-32 uses the latter option. This basic RCA Tube Manual RIAA circut (original RCA used 2.7K resistor cathode bias with 25uF/25V bypass) needs to be direct to a 250K or greater Volume control load; use of interconnects to a line stage will roll off treble & reduce gain, so would less than 250K as load. My Heathkit Volume potentiometer is no further than the lead of that 0.22uF output coupling cap (IOW a few inches of shielded could be problematic).
