Hello Russ,Could the explanation be a change in the line AC conditions? Stroms, weather conditions?
I'm using single driver speakers, (no x-ovrer), and with each amp the sound is drastically different. I hear way more difference between amps, compared to multi-way speakers. The differences are such, that I have not the lightest hint what these speakers sound like! :)
Btw, single drivers can rock. I've heard the FE204 / Voigt pipes with a PX25 amp (in a BIG room), and at such a volume, that I had no idea can be achieved. And it left no ringing in the ears... was heavenly. The presentation was formidable, as there was no sense of bass quality or highs quality, there were the instruments....... gorgeous female vocals, heart-stopping monster kettle drum, and such.
Any way, I have a feeling that x-overs bring out the worst of solid s amps .
long live DIY,
