If you are not using single ended on those compression drivers, it is definitely worth going out of your way to find one as a loaner just to hear.

Then the crossover: if you can, just go to a single cap @1200hz which is about 16uf for a 8 ohm driver, and a single coil same frequency. I assume you are using a decent compression driver.

and yes if you cannot hear the difference between a tube single ended amp, and the solid state (and yes there are a few good solid state designs out there, but generally the differences are audible)
