You might want to look instead at the output transformer. Just for fun, load your 26 with a 100K resistor and output it through a 2uf cap. You will be able to see if your bass problem really lies in your tube operating points or if it is the interaction of the transformer load with your tube and/or the load seen by the output of the transformer. It sounds like you have impedance problems.
