Last week I did built a simple preamp with a meshplate 227. As a load I use a Tango NP-126 line output transformer. I am still searching for the best operating point for the 227. So far I tried Ua(+Uk) 185V Ia 4mA and Ua(+Uk) 150V Ia 4mA. With this last option I used a 9V NiMh battery in the cathodelead. The mids and highs are in both cases marvelous, but it lacks bass. I wonder what the best operating point would be for this tube.
Does anyone know what Kurt Strain uses/used for his 27 preamp? Or do you have experience with a good operating point?Thanks for suggestions,
