I favor the 12AT7 as a differential splitter/driver. There is enough gain to drive "12" W. tubes and 7591s, even if loop NFB is employed. Also, the 12AT7's non-linearities work to your advantage in a PP amp. The NET distortion spectrum is a PLEASING "waterfall".
