I believe this is Gabe Velez' long-term project. His posts leading up to the discovery of the Magnavox circuit make fascinating reading - great sense of innovation and enthusiasm. He's put a lot of work into this project and he is a respected valve enthusiast. I don't see any negatives - it's well priced and carefully thought out. You can get some remarkably euphonic sounds out of the EL84 - look at some of the great amps that use it - Leak, EICO, Bill Beard, Dynaco, the list goes on and on (how about the Vox AC30!!). I use them myself and with the right circuit they can sing. Thorsten Loesch uses them as drivers. I believe Lynn Olsen once called them the next best thing to 300Bs. Don't know if he would still say that! Andy
