Re: dolby b "unstretching" of tapes

Are you sure that those are Dolby B encoded tapes. "B" was more of a consumer simplified version of Dolby A. If the tapes are 15or30 ips master tapes, they would more likely be "A". In which case, you'd need to find a 300 series Dolby unit which won't be cheap! It is posable that they are "B" encoded of course in which case, you could try a standalone unit. I have an Integrex and it's pretty good.
I think that Dave's idea would be better. Especially if you going to transfer the tapes to digital anyway. You could download a freeware audio editing software, like Audacity, apply a plug-in Eq, record it to your hard disk and transfer it to your Masterlink. I assume you must be doing this for convenience or sharing because, as Teresa said, you'll loose some fidelity no matter how or where you copy them.
