Re: dolby b "unstretching" of tapes

How much fidelity are you after? Seriously, if you can record them with a slight treble cut, it may be sufficient. There are quite a few stand-alone Dolby B units, but they're all ancient now and unless my experience is totally atypical, they are not very reliable. I went through three Teac units and one Nakamichi and they're long gone. Finally ended up with the only (as far as I know) Teac deck -- A2300SD -- with built-in Dolby and IT takes only 7" reels! Good luck. Others may have better and more positive advice.
