I use a Computer based oscilloscope to match both channels phase. The pc samples at 96KhzI use a set of two prerecorded tapes.
These two prerecorded tapes (one is "Dire straits - Brothers in ARms", the other is a spanish singer ) are not exactely same aligned. The highs sounds that reveal the precise phase misalignment, are not always present as would be in a test tape and wow and flutter can introduce some phase disadjustment. So I take my time alternating between these two tapes until the phase seems matched on both tapes, most of the times the highs are present.
Yes, I know. I have to obtain one of those basf or nakamichi alginment tapes.
It's not orthodox, but, belive me I leave the heads aligned.
Then I confirm it with other tapes recorded by me on other decks with tests tones.THANKS again.
