Nakamichi BX 150 head issue

Reel to reel, cassette and other analogue tape formats.

I just acquired a nak 150 bx with good sound in all modes. however there seems to be some substance on the head that won't go away with head cleaner.
please see pictures . it is a white substance right between the rectangles on the head. Might it be some form of oxidation? The head feels smooth when touching so there is no abrasion. The main concern is if this may damage the tape in the short or long run.
