Home Tape Trail

Reel to reel, cassette and other analogue tape formats.

As other's have said here, not too many a'philes are into tape.

I've owned Akia, Teac, Tascam, Tandberg, Ampex (300, 351, 354, ATR-700, and an ATR Services ATR-102), 3M, MCI and Scully.

The Scully's are hard on tape, but are built like a friggen tank underneath. The Capstan motor weighs somewhere around 10 or 15 pounds alone! The drive motors are 5 or 6 inches across and 5 or 6 inches deep. It's heavy duty overbuilt American ...

Anyway, I'd rate the ATR Services ATR-102 a distant second to my modified Scully's.
