Hello.
Yes it is an pc-software that samples the "line-in" input of the pc soundcard. There are some applications out there that do that. They have to sample and show both channels as you are going to see the phase difference between them. And they must have, also, single shot, to allow you to observe one sampled time. Now I'am evaluating virtins soundcard multiinstrument...

it is good, but I also have used many others, with good results

This is for free. It's not as good, but you can easily test the frecuency response using "analyser.exe" set to "max" on "level" and use a tape recorded with sounds from 20hz to 20 KHZ
For the azimuth use "single shot" trigger so you will see the results on screen of a short time . Do a lot of 'runs' to try to hit a treble sound on both channels. And turn the azimuth screw while doing tests to see the differences. Use virtins multiinstruments here it's better. Set maxium sampling rate (192Khz) if possible. use at first, 5ms and when adjusted set to 1ms or 500 to ensure perfect match. Use a test tape if possible, but also check with pre-recorded tapes.
Ask me any questions you wish. I hope my english will not be a problem.
Nacho.
