I'm new into reel to reel. Need advice

Tape Trail

Reel to reel, cassette and other analogue tape formats.

Just purchased a Technics 1500 serviced and in perfect shape. Has not arrived yet. I'm completely new to this so any advice you can give me or point outs to basics on reel to reel pages will be very appreciated.
Also, what accesories do I need? What are the hubs for? Do I need to buy reels?
I mostly intend to use it for prerecorded tapes but wouldn't mind recording a couple of lp's just to start.
