Yes they were not cheap machines when new. I paid $22 for mine on fleabay but was another $40 to ship it here. It seems to be in pretty decent shape with no visible head wear but the entire machine could use a good cleaning.
More useless Magnecord history. In the 70s Telex sued IBM claiming anti-trust violations and not only lost the suit but was counter sued by IBM and Telex lost and by that time they were in such bad shape financially that Memorex merged with them and later themselves went belly up (in '96).
Magnecord also supplied reel to reel trasports to companies that built digital tape drives for computers in the 60s and 70s.Dave
