The EQ for crO2 and metal are the same, 70us, only the bias is different. The only way to really tell the tape type would be to record a 400hz tone with dolby on and play back into IM distortion unit such as a NAK T100, if available. Higher distortion would indicate normal bias tape, lower distortion would indicate high bias tape, providing you have astandard, test tone recorded on a known normal bias and high bias tape. IMHO I don't think the individuals who recorded these tapes would use metal. Good luck.
