Wait one second there folks. I gotta get my 2 cents in, because as much as I respect the Tascams and especially the 122, I've been using a Nakamichi LX-5 for over six years with absolutely NO problems. Just recently I had her serviced for the first time in that six years.

I find the LX-5 a joy to use. It's solid, cool flip down door, extended LED's that are VERY accurate, easy to use, and the sound, Mama Mia!!

I've never compared the two side by side, but the only thing I've ever used that compares is my new Tandberg 3014.

I'd go with Nakamichi.
